AMP employees volunteer to help Feed My Starving Children and pack their 10,000,000th meal!
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 that equips people to turn hunger into hope with their own two hands. Volunteers pack MannaPack meals, which are scientifically developed to reverse and prevent malnutrition. The food is then distributed to missions and humanitarian agencies worldwide.
The Suter Company of Sycamore, IL has been a mobile packing plant for the past 10 years with more than 5,500 volunteers expected throughout DeKalb County and pack over 1,500,000 meals. On November 14th-17th, AMP had 58 employees and family members donating their time to help stomp out hunger throughout the world. It was a great day to see a community come together for a great cause. During our volunteering shift we were able to be a part of the 10,000,000th MannaPacks that Suter Company has packed over the past 10 years – this is an incredible accomplishment for this organization.
Here from the AMP Team on their day of giving back:
“I would like to say how much fun my family and I had helping at this event. It was our first time and we had no idea what to expect. Once we finished our shift and heard the numbers of how many people we have helped, it felt so good knowing we had a small part in helping these children from all corners of the world! I can’t wait to help again next year! ” – Jennifer Elshoff, AMP Accounting Department
“As a runner, it was cool to see everyone’s excitement and enthusiasm all around the room. We were all working to make sure all the stations were stocked to ensure we could all pack as many meals as we could. The time flew by and I could’ve easily gone another hour or two.” – Max Rasmussen, AMP Human Resource Department
“This past Saturday, my 13 year old son and I took an important 1 hour ride to Sycamore, IL to lock arms with 326 other people to help thousands of kids we will never meet. Our cause was to end child hunger, our hearts were full of gratitude to be able to participate. What a great day of giving back! What a great message our company sends and what a great sign of the helping people we surround ourselves with by proof in the amount of local AMP employees that showed up on a Saturday afternoon near the holidays to help faces we will never see. What a great way to spend time on a Saturday, by giving back!” – Connie Roeder, AMP Corporate Trainer
“Volunteering for Feed My Starving Children was a really fun, self-satisfying event to do. The group is very well organized and they make it fun and sometimes very competitive! Meeting new people in the area and seeing how many people care to help feed children is so rewarding and knowing that children will not go hungry is the best feeling ever. I really appreciated the joy I saw and the dedication that the staff members and all the volunteers have for such a big task!” – Becky Petersen, AMP Accounting Department
