Meet Ebony Scott, Senior OPTIMA™ Cross-Functional Specialist, and read about her career journey at AMP.
I started working at American Marketing & Publishing in January 2021 as a Content Fulfillment Specialist. I was coming from a mostly independent role in healthcare marketing that had little to no contact with other employees. The position required me to travel about an hour away from home and I decided it was time for a change of pace. I was searching for more opportunities to collaborate with coworkers while increasing my marketing knowledge. I came across a job posting online for AMP that seemed like a great fit! The fact that the DeKalb AMP office is only 10 minutes from home is a definite bonus!
I remember my first day at AMP because it was pretty unique. The 2021 annual company meeting was held virtually on my first day, so I got a great opportunity to see the company as a whole and the potential for upward mobility and personal growth. Seeing so many AMP team members being honored and acknowledged for their exemplary work was encouraging! I jumped in with both feet after completing my training. I shadowed the different departments so I could get a sense of AMP and OPTIMA™ as a whole. Throughout my time here, I’ve worked in a few different departments on the Content Fulfillment team; Images, Detailing and Verification, before training as a backup to recommendation cards in 2021. Working on the recommendation card team has allowed me the opportunity for the personal growth I was looking for. It has helped me develop my skills and confidence working with multiple teams, external contacts and customers. I was promoted to Senior OPTIMA™ Cross-Functional Specialist in 2022 and took over the recommendation card process fully.
In my quest for personal growth, I’ve developed strong friendships with my coworkers and supervisors here at AMP. I consider Cameran Fry to be one of my mentors here at AMP. Working closely with her throughout the years and even more so the past two years as we’ve navigated revamping the recommendation card process together has been an invaluable experience! She always encourages me to think outside the box while pushing me to be the best I can be with her confidence in my abilities. Some other co-workers that come to mind who have had an instrumental impact on my time here are; Cheryl Montgomery, Jonna Hiltunen and Veronica Quezada to name a few. While we work on different teams, if I have questions, I can always go to them for assistance or we can work through it together. They are always there with a warm smile or encouraging words and have really made my time at AMP that much more special.
Some of my favorite memories while working here are with my AMP’d Up Team. I’ve been a part of the company events committee, AMP’d Up, for almost 3 years and have now taken on a leadership role. Getting to cultivate fun and engaging ways for AMP employees to not only get to know each other while enjoying some fun activities and treats but also facilitating volunteer and donation opportunities has been so rewarding.
In January 2024, I was voted the 2023 Support Employee of the Year! I can’t express how honored I felt to receive the award. I remember back on my first day in 2021, during that annual company meeting seeing people presented the same award and I feel very fulfilled with my personal growth journey I set out for. My journey doesn’t end here and my advice to anyone considering joining the AMP team is, Don’t Wait! I look forward to continuing my work here at AMP in the Recommendation Card department and can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
