Congratulations to Emily Shanklin on her promotion to Senior Hiring Manager!
Emily joined AMP in June 2022, shortly after graduation from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in Marketing. She had previously done Ad Sales for her hometown newspaper in Pickneyville, IL, while also working at a local family owned tanning salon. She’s an entrepreneur and has her own wood working business specializing in building furniture. She grew up doing competitive gymnastics and was on the competitive cheer team in high school. She’s no stranger to putting in the hard work to achieve her goals!
Coming from a small town and knowing a lot of small business owners has helped her to understand the importance of our products and how small business owners think. At the newspaper, she once had a business owner call her annoying and she replied back with, “Well sir, I know I can be annoying, but I’m going to keep calling you until we get your ads figured out.” She got a chuckle, and a sale from her confident response.
Emily has a natural ability to identify talent and a great sense of humor that she uses to connect with candidates. Emily’s first hire was Kurt Joseph, a top 20 rookie from the Jacksonville team. She has also inspired Paige Bedard, Stephanie Alfred, and Lanford Wilcox to join our team. Her favorite quote from Nikki Bowman is “Our work isn’t that serious, we aren’t brain surgeons.” This room to grow and make mistakes, or try new things, gave Emily the confidence to learn our work at a high-level.
Emily’s quick success here at AMP allowed her to purchase her first home in Humboldt, TN in November, and she has big DIY plans! She is our very own Dr. Doolittle and has a litter of cats at home, as well as feeding whatever wildlife roams into her yard. She’s looking forward to adding a golden retriever to the pack when the time is right. When she’s not enjoying her new place in Tennessee with her boyfriend, she’s back home in Pickneyville spending time with family.
