CORPORATE

Kristen Wrenn, Regional Team Lead Photographer

When did you join AMP?
I started in October 2015 as a part-time photographer and went full-time that December.

What drew you to AMP?
I came from a sales background but always loved photography. AMP gave me the chance to combine two things I enjoy—working with small businesses and capturing great photos.

What do you find most rewarding?
Helping small businesses is by far the most rewarding part. I love seeing their growth over time, and sometimes I’ll return years later and they’ve opened new locations or expanded their families. Training new photographers has also become a big part of what I do, and it’s just as rewarding to watch them grow into their roles.

What key skills have you gained?
Patience and empathy are the biggest ones. Business owners are always busy, and you have to work around their schedules with understanding. Those same skills help me when I’m training new photographers. It’s about meeting people where they are and supporting them.

How do you stay motivated?
Honestly, motivation has never been an issue for me because I really enjoy the work. Every day I get to meet new people and visit new places, and that keeps things fresh.

Can you share a challenge you’ve faced?
Moving to Tennessee to open a brand-new market was definitely a challenge. It was new for me and for AMP, so at first things were a little chaotic—especially with Tennessee traffic! But over time, I learned how to navigate those challenges, and now it feels like second nature. That experience taught me a lot about resilience and adapting quickly.

How did AMP support you?
AMP was very supportive during that transition. They worked with me to adjust scheduling, made calls to businesses if I was delayed, and were always understanding. They’ve also been great about recognizing hard work. I was named Employee of the Year in 2018, which was a huge honor. Later, I became a Regional Team Lead, which gave me the chance to support other photographers in the same way.

What goals are you working on now?
Right now, my focus is on helping AMP expand into new markets. As the company continues to grow, especially moving west, I want to play a part in making that process smooth for our teams.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself continuing to train and support photographers. Starting a new role can feel overwhelming, and I enjoy being the person who makes sure they’re set up for success.

What advice would you give yourself early on?
Keep taking risks and challenges. Moving to Tennessee after living in Northern Illinois my whole life was a big leap, but it really paid off. Taking that chance opened new opportunities I couldn’t have imagined when I first started.

OUTSIDE SALES

Kyle Thode, Digital Assistant District Manager

How long have you been with AMP?
Since August 2021, so about three and a half years now.

What drew you to AMP?
Alex Hogan visited one of my classes at the University of Iowa. We connected on LinkedIn, and after graduation, I reached out. Even though she was on maternity leave, she got me scheduled for an interview right away.

What do you find most rewarding about working at AMP?
Seeing the results like a website or virtual tour going live and knowing it makes a real impact. That’s what keeps me going.

What key skills have helped you succeed?
Listening, for sure. It helps tailor our solutions to what people really need. Also, this job brought back my extroverted side, which I’d lost a bit during COVID.

So you started in the Northwest Region out in Iowa and then moved to Chicago and joined the Central Region. Tell us about that transition.
I started in Iowa as a digital rep, then moved into traditional sales. After two years, my girlfriend and I moved to Chicago to be closer to family. It was a big shift, but I stuck to the basics and found success. Now, I love the energy and opportunity here.

Were there any mentors who have shaped your career at AMP?
Absolutely! Kyle Tweeton, Dave Leider, Raphael Weaver, and Luke Wazowski have all helped me grow in different ways. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.

What’s your biggest accomplishment so far?
Becoming an Assistant District Manager and helping over 400 businesses directly. That personal impact is what I’m most proud of especially since my dad ran a small business.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years at AMP?
I’d love to be a District Manager with a strong team in the Chicago region. There’s so much untapped potential here.

What’s one piece of wisdom you’d like to share?
Get out of your head and out of your car. The more doors you knock on, the more success you’ll find. And honestly, the more fun I have with the job, the more sales I make. People buy your energy.

INSIDE SALES

Sparkle Pickney, Senior Account Manager Support Specialist

What originally drew you to AMP?
The opportunity to work with small business owners. I’ve always been interested in entrepreneurship, so AMP felt like a natural fit.

What are some of your favorite things about our products?
I love that OPTIMA™ is full service—SEO, social, and digital marketing—all at an affordable price. It gives small businesses visibility without breaking the budget.

Have you picked up any new skills since joining AMP?
Sales skills, for sure! I never pictured myself in sales, but I see this role more as consulting and advising business owners. That perspective has helped me elevate my communication skills and become more confident in guiding others.

Have you had any setbacks, and how did you overcome them?
My biggest challenge early on was getting comfortable asking business owners for their money. What helped me overcome it was leading with service and focusing on the value we provide. Once I believed in the products and my own ability, the confidence came naturally.

What major accomplishments have you had since starting at AMP?
I just became a Senior Account Manager last week! I started as a Business Development Rep, moved to an Account Manager, and now stepped into this role. Along the way, I’ve hit and exceeded both digital and overall revenue goals. The promotion feels like validation of all the hard work and support I’ve received from my team.

How do you stay motivated and continue to grow in your role?
By holding myself accountable, staying aligned with my purpose, and taking care of my mental health. My faith and team support keep me going.

Where do you see yourself at AMP in the future?
Even though I just became a Senior Account Manager, I know there’s still a lot of room to grow. Success here really depends on effort, and I want to keep pushing myself to be a top performer while continuing to grow with the company.

What advice would you give to someone starting in the same role?
Don’t be afraid to be uncomfortable. Sales—and any new role—will challenge you at first, but that’s where the growth happens. Lean into it, trust the process, and give yourself permission to learn along the way.

SALES LEADERSHIP

Jadden Ousley, Manager-In-Training

What originally drew you to AMP?
AMP actually found me, and I was drawn to the opportunity to create my own path and move at my own pace. It’s a fast-moving, supportive environment with endless resources, which has allowed me to really grow here.

What’s your favorite part of AMP’s mission to support independent businesses?
I love helping locally owned businesses get into the digital space. Coming from a family of small business owners, it’s meaningful to provide solutions that stretch their marketing dollars further than most companies can.

What key skills have you developed here?
Communication is the biggest one. Learning how to connect with small business owners and help them compete with big chains. It’s a unique audience, but they’re the backbone of our communities, and being able to support them makes the work meaningful.

How do you stay motivated in your role?
For me, it comes down to structure and routine. Having a plan each day keeps me grounded and prevents burnout, which helps me stay joyful and consistent.

Have you faced setbacks, and how do you overcome them?
Absolutely. Things don’t always go as planned, but sticking to core principles and remembering why I do this work helps me adapt quickly when schedules shift.

Have you had any mentors or standout advice along the way?
Yes—Luke Wisowski has been a huge mentor. His leadership, transparency, and experience are invaluable, and working closely with him has pushed me to be better every day.

What goals are you currently working toward?
I’m focused on expanding our Fort Wayne market into Ohio and developing new reps there. It’s exciting to help grow a new territory while staying hands-on in the field myself.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to new reps?
Don’t forget that you’re human and so are the business owners you talk to. It’s easy in sales to sound robotic or get discouraged when someone has a bad day, but remembering that human element changes everything. One tough interaction doesn’t define your success. Keep your perspective, learn from each experience, and keep moving forward.
